 (1910 - 1989) Born in Nibong Tebal, Province Wellesley, Penang

 Art Education 

1952 - Intermediate Certificate in Art and Craft, and a National Diploma in Design, Camberwell School of Art, England

 Solo Exhibitions

1948 - First solo exhibition at Penang Library.

1955 - British Council, Penang

1968 - British Council, Penang

1980 - Retrospective exhibition, Penang Museum and Art Gallery.

1983 -  Retrospective exhibition, National Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur.

1936 - Founding treasurer, Penang Chinese Art Club

1964 to 89 - Chairman, Penang Museum's Art Gallery

 Honours

1954 - Appointed Penang Superintendent of Art.

1957 to 1969 - Appointed superintendent to the Federal inspectorate of art, Ministry of Education.

 

Award

1986 - Awarded datukship by the Penang State Government. First visual artist to be awarded a datukship for his many significant contributions to the nation.
